12-28-08: In what seems to be an annual tradition, I've posted about my New Years resolutions on Incandescent. So go check out the post and let me know if you did better than I did this year. Honestly, it wouldn't be that hard. ;)
12-05-08: There is a new addition to the site! At the bottom of the sidebar is a link to my new freelance editing business. I offer the whole range of novel editing and consultation, so, if you're interested, head over to the Editing Services tab and check it out.

11-17-08: A friend of mine has recently decided to get serious about making the first steps on the path to publication. She's previously dabbled in quite a few writing worlds, but none that offered "professional" publication. Since I firmly believe that writers at all levels can learn from writers at all levels, I'm going to link to her blog: The Chronicles of Emily Cross. Writing is all about learning from mistakes, watching others make mistakes, taking those mistakes and creating a character who lives through them to show the rest of the world how to avoid those mistakes. ;)
Writing is about teaching, about learning, about living experiences and committing them to paper. Writing is a love affair and a broken heart. It's a roller coaster and a sinking ship. It's a ride in a hot air balloon and a freefall from five thousand feet. ALL AT THE SAME TIME. Why am I saying all this? To encourage you to head over to Emily's page and give her the encouragement she needs to make it through the gauntlet of publication in one piece. If you can't do it for her, do it in the hopes that someone would return the favor if it was you walking this road.

10-25-08: The quote I put up today is a n excellent reminder for me and anyone struggling in the pre-publication void of the writing world. It means working out plots and characters even when it's the last thing you want to do. It means getting past the middle of a story even if you've finally seen all those problems your friend pointed out. It means never giving up no matter how many times someone says no. All you need is one yes. That's what I plan on doing anyway. How about you?

09-09-08: To those of you interested in pursuing a carreer in writing, I have a new blog that might interest you. Head over to Incandescent and check out what NOT to include when writing your query letter. There's a hilarious example from a guest to the blog up now. :D

08-31-08: Yeah. I have no excuse. It's been a month since I've updated this site and there's really nothing for me to say except I'm sorry. I've been doing a bunch of things that probably could have been put aside for the amount of time it takes to update, but I haven't done it. Plus I was out of state and then out of the country for two weeks. That's kind of an excuse, right? Either way, to make up for it there is a long post on Incandescent about my trip. It includes photo highlights as well as a short story (very short story) prompted by a rather interesting experience I had while in Mexico. So go! Read and view and enjoy. And then let me know what you think by leaving a comment on the page.
Coming soon to the site: new pictures on the usual pages, an update on Guardian, and another promise to be a more frequent updater. Really. I mean it this time. ;)
July 2008
07-28-08: With only four days left until the release of Stephenie Meyer's Breaking Dawn I'm preparing to not only play the role of resident Stephenie Meyer expert at the Borders in Tallahassee, but to travel to Los Angeles for the Breaking Dawn concert series! Yes, Twilighters, I will be at the LA signing. I'm very excited about this not only because I get to see Stephenie again, but because it is amazingly exciting to see something this huge being organized around a book. It gives me hope for the future of publishing.
Anyway, for those of you in Tallahassee this Friday, I'll see you there! And for the ones lucky enough to have gotten tickets to the LA concert/signing, come say hi if you recognize me! :D
07-14-08: Hello, everyone! I wanted to check in even though I have nothing much to report. My agent search continues and although I have had some very promising signs, nothing is official yet. Incandescent has been updated a couple of times in the past month, so go check that out if you're interested. Work on Guardian has resumed and my worldbuilding adventures for my as yet unnamed fantasy series continues as well. My husband and I have been coming up with some really cool stuff for that one, so I'm excited about the project! On a side note, I recently discovered that Ohio has a lot of corn fields. Seriously. They're everywhere! And last but not least, Melika Lux, a writer friend of mine, and I have started a writer's group we're calling Scribbage. It's not a public group, but it has prompted me to write up a blog on the benefits of tight knit critique groups. Look for the post on Incandescent in the next couple of days! :D
Thats all for now! I'll check back as soon as I have any agent news to share.
