When sixteen-year-old Samantha Smith’s mother adopts the gorgeous, battered teenager that shows up on their doorstep, Sam’s quiet life turns upside down. Suddenly, she’s the center of attention as she helps her new brother, the enigmatic Xander, adjust to life at her high school. Over time she realizes that Xander has bioluminescent blue eyes and seems to know more about Sam then she knows about herself, but Sam’s attempts to draw out the past Xander does not want to reveal only result in vague answers a politician might envy. At the same time, Sam’s past comes roaring back to life in the form of Matthew Green, her ex-crush and middle school tormentor, who transfers schools just to spend time with her. Sam tries to keep her life in balance, but, as Matt works to make amends and claim Sam's heart, will the mystery surrounding Xander ruin everything? And what is the secret that Xander refuses to reveal?
